About Matt

Hi, I’m Matt. LMFT in Saratoga Springs, Utah

My path to therapy wasn’t a straight line. I originally planned to be an engineer, but a two-year mission for my church changed everything. Walking alongside people through some of life’s most difficult transitions made it clear: this is where I was meant to be.

I hold a Bachelor’s in Human Development and Family Studies from Utah State University and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University Worldwide. Before becoming a licensed therapist, I worked as a Registered Behavior Technician supporting children with autism, an experience that continues to shape my practical, compassionate approach today.

I believe therapy should feel like a real conversation. My job isn’t to lecture you, it’s to help you understand your own patterns, develop real skills, and make choices that lead to lasting change. Outside the office, I’m a husband, dad of two, and a fan of board games, cooking, sports, and learning new things.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of therapy does Key Moments Counseling offer?

Key Moments Counseling offers individual therapy, couples and marriage counseling, family therapy, and parenting support. Matt specializes in ADHD, autism spectrum support, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and life transitions. He works with children, teens, adults, and families across a wide range of challenges — in person and via telehealth in Saratoga Springs and throughout Utah County.

Do you offer telehealth therapy sessions in Utah?

Yes. Matt offers secure, HIPAA-compliant video therapy sessions for clients throughout the state of Utah. Telehealth is ideal for clients who prefer to meet from home, have busy schedules, or live further from our Saratoga Springs office. In-person sessions are also available for those who prefer to meet face-to-face at the office.

How much does therapy cost at Key Moments Counseling?

A free 15-minute phone consultation is available to help you decide if working with Matt is the right fit. Intake sessions (50 minutes) are $175, and ongoing 50-minute sessions are $150. Key Moments Counseling currently accepts SelectHealth and UnitedHealth care insurance. A superbill can be provided for clients with out-of-network benefits through other plans.

What therapeutic approaches does Matt use?

Matt draws from a range of evidence-based frameworks, adapting each session to your specific needs. These include Structural Family Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), the Gottman Method for couples, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion-Focused Therapy. Every plan is individualized — no one-size-fits-all here.

How long does therapy typically take?

The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and what you are working through. Some clients see meaningful progress in just a few months; others find continued support beneficial over a longer period. During your intake session, Matt will help set realistic expectations based on your situation. Progress is measured by your outcomes, not by the number of sessions.

How do I get started with therapy?

The easiest way to get started is to request an appointment online through the Client Portal, or give us a call at (385) 269-0734. We recommend beginning with a free 15-minute phone consultation so Matt can hear a little about what you are looking for and make sure it is a good fit.
